Wamlambez….probably you have answered that with Wamnyonyez. Wamlambez is undoubtedly an anthem of the millennial. Unfortunately, Kenya Film classification Board (kFCB) boss, Dr. Ezekiel Mutua banned it alongside tetema hit by celebrated musicians Diamond Platinums and Rayvanny. The Kenya Film Classification Board boss made it clear on his twitter handle on 27th of August stating that the two hit songs are banned from being played outside bars and clubs. Well, you can still enjoy it inside the club.
Dr. Ezekiel Mutua supported his act by saying that the two songs have lyrics which are pornographic in nature. He felt it odd that even older mature people are getting hypnotized with these two songs. His twitter handle read “Tetema and Wamlambez songs are strictly forbidden out of clubs and bars. It is embarrassing to see national leaders singing and dancing to the obscenity in public. The lyrics are dirty and not suitable for public consumption especially children.”
Remember takataka by Alvindo which was released earlier this year, was also banned with reasons being the song not appreciating the female gender hence promoting violence against women.
However, this is seen by many as work in futile considering that there are many avenues to stream the songs. Tetema has been able to get 27 million views on YouTube, wamlambez has 3.4 million views.
