Olamilekan Agbeleshe (Laycon) won the Big brother naija season 5 reality TV show with 60% of all the votes cast. No previous winners of this annual show has ever reached that kind of percentage.Laycon must have really been a man of the people. He is now the fifth winner of this show joining Katung Aduwakwey, Efe Ejeba, Miracle Ikechukwu and Mercy Eke who won in 2006,2017,2018,2019 respectively. Laycon ,26 years old, is a singer and rapper who hails from Lagos and is a graduate of philosophy from University of Lagos. Apart from the 85-million-naira grand prize, Lycon won a two-bedroom apartment, Dubai trip for two, SUV from innoson motor, trip to Dublin, trip to watch the UEFA champions league, home appliances.1 year supply of indomie noodles, munch it chin-chin and Colgate toothpaste, one year supply of Pepsi, branded chiller and a brand new oppo mobile smart phone. These does not include the prize for the various tasks he won in the house. He sure left that house a very lucky man.
Big brother naija is one of the most interesting reality TV shows I have ever watched. I began watching the show in 2019, that was the then Big brother naija pepper dem (season four) that was launched on 30th June 2019 with 26 housemates (contestants) and Mercy Eke emerged the winner of that season. She also became the first female winner of the show. In my opinion, Season four housemates were more entertaining as compared to season five housemates. They gave us viewers and their fellow housemates the ‘pepper’ that needed to be experienced. I bet we all know what pepper is and what it does. The fights in that season were entertaining and rib cracking not forgetting all the tasks that the housemates ensured would impress the viewers. These set of housemates gave their all. Housemates not to forget were Tacha (Natacha Akide); she quarreled with almost everyone in the house and finally got disqualified when the show was almost coming to an end. She bonded with very few housemates hence had very few friends in the house but left when Khafi was her bestie. Her motto was no leave no transfer this was due to the fact that anytime she was up for eviction, she would end up not being evicted. It was sad that she got disqualified.
Another housemate of season four to be remembered was Khafi Kareem; wherever Khafi was in that house, that place would be filled with a vibe on a whole new level. Khafi was such a vibe, always happy and loving and gave the viewers her best. I guess she equally had as much fun in the house as she gave. Khafi is now engaged to ex Bbnaija season four housemate Ekpata Gedoni.Very soon they will be the ‘Bam teddy’ of big brother naija season 3. Omashola (Kola Oburo) was the loud one. Housemates complained that he was always too loud especially when having an argument with fellow housemates.
I would go on and on dwelling on Big brother naija season four but I have to stop it there. Back to Big brother naija lockdown (season five). The subtitle lockdown was probably chosen because of the COVID-19 lockdown period in which it premiered. This season had 20 housemates who had to undergo the COVID-19 test and two weeks’ quarantine before taking part in the show. This season was different from other seasons of the show in that, the organizers of the show had to obey and follow COVID-19 precautions and preventive measures bringing up the following changes to the show. No guests were allowed to enter the big brother house or get in physical contact with housemates. Previous seasons had several guests coming to the house. All audiences for the live eviction show were also not available this time round.Ebuka (host) was only with the DJ during the live eviction. The grand prize this time was the biggest ever (85 million naira) as compared to last season’s grand prize of 60 million naira.
This season had a very interesting set of housemates. Let us take wathoni for instance. Wathoni was born in Kenya and later moved to Nigeria. She is a single mum of one. The interesting part of Wathoni’s story is that she got pregnant as a result of making out and not through sexual intercourse and gave birth as a virgin.Surprising?I know right. That is why I said that this set of housemates were interesting in their own ways. Moving to Erica, this is one housemate that was attracted to another housemate mentally and to the other physically. She was mentally attracted to Laycon because he was very smart but physically attracted to Kiddwaya because was handsome and well built. Interesting, right? She also got disqualified from the show after receiving her third strike from breaking the house rules. And now that it is Laycon who won the show, will she now be attracted to him. Do not forget the insults she hailed on Laycon took a day before she got disqualified. Kiddwaya was the rich one and said his billionaire father took fourteen Nigerian governors to London for his birthday in 2001.In the house Kiddwaya and Erica were all over the place together and at times seen making out. A midst these Kiddwayya told Erica that it was risky loving a guy like him because he was all over the place and may not have time for her after the show.
Vee once said that she bathed once in four days when the privilege of housemates using hot water was taken away. Who does that? Ozo and Nengi’s case was also an interesting one. Ozo liked Nengi and made it known to her but Nengi rarely reciprocated. Ozo once wrote a love letter to Nengi and got a strike for a letter whose reply he never got. When Ozo was evicted, he tried to kiss Nengi but the savage Nengi turned her head way but later cried over Ozo’s eviction. Lucy was the responsible one. Occasionally she could be seen cleaning the kitchen and preparing something to eat for the housemates.
I would recommend this reality Tv show to anyone at anytime. It is a show that guarantees entertainment. If you would love to view the highlights of the show, then subscribe to showmax and watch all the highlights of the show.
